Father Earth Kid's Recycling Club

Keep it Clean and Green

 1st Edition

Welcome new members. As you all know Father Earth has wanted to start a recycling club for some time, well the time is here.  All members will be asked to complete a registration form. This is the beginning process of you becoming a member of the Father Earth Recycling Club.  As a member you will become a steward of our environment.   For signing up as a member you will receive a free gift and your member card that establishes you as a Father Earth recycling club member.   You will also receive a quarterly newsletter that will let you know about environmental events going on throughout the L.A. and San Bernardino County, which you can attend.

Our main focus will be recycling, the environment, and what we can do to sustain our Earth.  There will be fun activities to help you “student environmentalist” become more aware and educated about the different types of waste that we generate in our home, school and communities.  We will cover topic’s such as where waste goes when it is dumped from your curbside container, how recycled products such as glass, plastic and aluminum  is regenerated into other cool products such as water bottles, lanyards, baseball caps, and t-shirts.

First and foremost we are going to have FUN!  I hope to get your opinions and idea’s on any recycling topics of interest to you.  I hope to have an “Ask Father Earth Column” where your recycling questions can be answered.  I also would like to have guest student journalists to write an article about recycling, for publishing on Father Earths Kids Club Corner.  Yes! We are going to have a blast learning about what makes our Earth so special, and why its important for you our future recycling coordinator’s, environmentalist, scientist, astronauts, public servant’s, doctors, and lawyer’s to help us stay on track in keeping our environment clean and green.

As a member of Father Earth Recycling Club there are many things that you can start doing to help keep our Earth clean and green, such as: Pick up litter • Bring your lunch in a lunch pail • Recycle beverage containers • Start a compost bin for left over food, grass and tree clippings • Buy recycled products.

Look for this symbol  on recycled products.  It usually means that the product is made of recycled material.  But you have to look carefully because sometimes the symbol means the package itself – and not the product’s inside are made from recycled material.  Look for words “Made of Recycled Material” or “Post Consumer” on the product package.   Also when collecting beverage containers, whether glass, plastic, or aluminum, always make sure they are clean, this will prevent those pesky ants from invading the containers.

I’ll talk to you soon!
